Scaling behavior of the activated conductivity in a quantum Hall liquid.

چکیده
We propose a scaling model for the universal longitudinal conductivity near the mobility edge for the integer quantum Hall liquid. We fit our model with available experimental data on exponentially activated conductance near the Landau level tails in the integer quantum Hall regime. We obtain quantitative agreement between our scaling model and the experimental data over a wide temperature and magnetic field

Quantum point contact between compressible Quantum Hall liquids
We elaborate on a theory of electronic transport through a quantum point contact (QPC) in the Quantum Hall (QH) regime, which does not discriminate between compressible and incompressible QH liquids, and accounts for both diffusive and ballistic regimes of the bulk electron motion. In either regime we find departures from the accustomed chiral Luttinger liquid behavior. The results suggest that...
متن کاملHopping conductivity in the quantum Hall effect: revival of universal scaling.
We have measured the temperature dependence of the conductivity sigma(xx) of a two-dimensional electron system deep into the localized regime of the quantum Hall plateau transition. Using variable-range hopping theory we extract directly the localization length xi from this experiment. We use our results to study the scaling behavior of xi as a function of the filling factor distance /deltanu/ ...
متن کاملCritical behavior of a point contact in a quantum spin Hall insulator
We study a quantum point contact in a quantum spin Hall insulator. It has recently been shown that the Luttinger liquid theory of such a structure maps to the theory of a weak link in a Luttinger liquid with spin with Luttinger liquid parameters g =1 /g =g 1. We show that for weak interactions, 1 /2 g 1, the pinch-off of the point contact as a function of gate voltage is controlled by a novel q...
متن کاملDynamical scaling analysis of the optical Hall conductivity in the graphene quantum Hall system with various types of disorder
Dynamical scaling of the optical Hall conductivity σxy(εF , ω) at the n = 0 Landau level in graphene is analyzed for the 2D effective Dirac fermion and honeycomb lattice models with various types of disorder. In the Dirac fermion model with potential disorder, σxy(εF , ω) obeys a well-defined dynamical scaling, characterized by the localization exponent ν and the dynamical critical exponent z. ...
متن کاملLow Temperature Quantum Corrections to the Anomalous Hall Conductivity in Ultra-thin Fe Films
In situ transport measurements on disordered polycrystalline Fe films reveal a logarithmic temperature dependence of the longitudinal Rxx and anomalous Hall Rxx resistances at low temperatures and a heretoforeunobserved scaling behavior in which the relative changes in Rxx and Rxy are found to be equal. Accordingly, the anomalous Hall conductivity is non-zero with a logarithmic temperature depe...
